THE CHALET COMPLEX
Pelister Mountain, Macedonia
The Chalet housing complex is composed of two dynamic volumes facing each other, creating a lively spatial dialogue. Nestled into the mountain’s dramatic slopes, it blends temporary residences, sports, recreation, and immersive nature experiences. The stepped arrangement follows the natural terrain, ensuring smooth circulation and gradual transitions throughout the site. The buildings connect at the basement level, hosting shared living and sports areas along a central spine that extends into the surrounding landscape. Their striking, asymmetrical rooflines echo the mountain’s topography, while expansive glass façades dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior, immersing occupants in the shifting seasonal vistas. Every detail—light, shadow, reflections, and layered textures—enhances a fluid, multi-sensory experience. The complex is a carefully orchestrated architectural ensemble, reinterpreting local tradition in a contemporary mountain setting while celebrating connection with nature.
