HOTEL LOKO PUBLIC SPACES

The initial concept of LOKO was already established around the idea of the local, providing the foundation for an architectural and interior design approach that responds directly to place. Conceived as an evolving hospitality concept, each LOKO hotel develops its own identity in response to the spatial, material and cultural character of its context. Our architectural approach follows this idea, creating a consistent design language across locations, while local materials, patterns, colors and cultural references make each hotel unique to the place it belongs to. The first chapter of this story begins in Skopje, Macedonia, in a particularly specific setting: beneath the grandstands of the National Arena Toše Proeski, while opening toward the greenery of the City Park. This architectural condition became an essential part of the project, shaping an interior that feels intimate, layered and atmospheric. Following LOKO’s design philosophy, the Skopje hotel draws inspiration from its local context and Macedonian heritage. Traditional embroidery patterns are reinterpreted through contemporary textile and wall applications, transformed in scale, color and composition. Rather than direct decoration, they become subtle references to cultural memory within a contemporary setting. LOKO operates as a self-check-in hotel, with dedicated check-in points integrated into the entrance areas on both the ground and first floors, allowing guests to complete the process independently. The hotel accommodates 20 rooms across the ground and first floor. The rooms follow the overall design language of the hotel, combining comfort, functionality and a warm material palette, while recurring elements create a consistent connection to the broader LOKO identity. On the ground floor, a dedicated conference area with meeting and event spaces is open to external guests, extending the hotel beyond accommodation and connecting it to the everyday life of the city. The balance between a recognizable identity and the character of each location forms the foundation of LOKO. The aim is not to create a hotel that could exist anywhere, but a hotel concept that can exist anywhere — while belonging specifically to where it is, with a design identity intended to evolve with every new location.
